The present Invention relates to the EDM (Electro Discharge Machining) Assisted Centreless Grinding Machine for grinding lesser Stiff Cylindrical Components. Centreless grinding is a mass production method of manufacture for rotationally symmetrical components and interchangeable spare parts. Due to remarkable improvement of grinding accuracy and productivity, the process has become a standard method of manufacture for small and medium size precision components in various fields of metal cutting industry, especially automotive and bearings. It is possible to achieve roundness accuracy of 0.1-0.3 micro meter and through feed rate of 10 metres per minute. The size control of 0.1 micrometer in in-feed grinding operation is possible on components with diameter of 15 mm. Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) is most popular among the Non conventional Machining processes due to its capability to machine hard metals or alloys (electrically conductive) which are difficult to process on conventional machines. Due to the absence of cutting forces, EDM is suitable for the micromachining of thin section components although its material removal rate (MRR) is low compared to conventional machining methods.
