The present disclosure is related to a method used to obtain policosanol occupying as raw material the wax produced by the insect known as Dactylopius Coccus, or carmine cochineal, that is generated in the culture process thereof to obtain carminic acid. This policosanol is formed by 1-Triacontanol, and up to 5 g/kg of wax of Dactylopius Coccus. Currently, the wax of such insect has no profitable use, so the present invention provides a value to this by-product of the insect culture and also features the wax as another source of policosanol whose composition is 1-Triacontanol, which is considered as a plant growth promoter which can be used to increase the yield of various crops and plants. This invention discloses a process to obtain extracts with Policosanol (1-Triacontanol) from the wax of Dactylopius Coccus (carmine cochineal). The process involves cleaning the wax without chemical or heating reactions and a saponification and solid-liquid extraction step.
