The present invention is an apparatus for supplying bags at a high volume. This apparatus stocks a high volume of vertically positioned bags (W), and is provided with: a bag stocking mechanism (50) provided with a mechanism for guiding groups of stocked bags toward a front end; and a bag transport mechanism (100) for transporting bags (W) from the bag stocking mechanism (50) toward a packaging machine. The apparatus further is provided with: a bag takeout mechanism (63) and a bag delivery mechanism (64), between the bag stocking mechanism (50) and the bag transport mechanism (100), for taking out the bags (W) from the bag stocking mechanism (50); a detection unit (91) for detecting the direction of the bags (W) taken out by the bag takeout mechanism (63) and the bag delivery mechanism (64); and a bag turning mechanism (105) for turning the bags (W) in a determined direction for transporting by the bag transport mechanism (100), on the basis of the direction of the bags detected by the detection unit (91).
