The method involves determining the reference frequency band for structure-borne sound of the plate-type wood panel (2), which meets the required quality standards, and storing as a target value in electronic data processing system (9). The frequency band of structure-borne noise, which the disc to be checked of the same board type produced in the same defined position (O) is determined, and is stored as actual value. The actual value is compared with the desired value and, a signal is generated in case of predetermined deviation of the actual value from the desired value.
