A method of processing a biological sample comprising: Supplying the biological sample; Apply an aqueous composition of histochemical process to the sample, the composition comprising from a value greater than zero to 25 parts per million of at least one nanoparticle selected from alumina (Al2O3), silica (SiO2), titania (TiO2), or combinations between them, in an effective amount to reduce the average number of areas of reduced intensity per sheet; stain the biological sample, and develop at least one additional histochemical step.
