A conditioning apparatus and feedforward sorbent suitable for direct feeding of a solid sorbent conditioning to a fluidized bed combustor (12) comprising: means (102) storage crude solid sorbent; means (112) to reduce particle size to reduce the particle size of the solid sorbent supplied thereto from the means (102) for storing the crude solid sorbent having a particle size coarser relatively large particle size fine relatively smaller; transport means (118) for conveying to the combustor the solid sorbent that has been conditioned by said means (112) to reduce particle size in a manner in which at least ninety percent (90%) of solid sorbent conditioning is supplied from the means (112) for reducing the particle size to the combustor (12) in less than thirty minutes after size reduction, which is sorbent feeds solid conditioning the combustor (12) without substantially one storage intermediate solid sorbent between the means (102) for storing the solid sorbent and transport means (118), and these means of transport (118) is a means of transport supply operating fuel also carry solid fossil fuel conditioning to the fluidized bed combustor, whereby the solid sorbent conditioning and conditioning solid fossil fuel as a feed mixture fluidized bed combustor; control means (122) operatively connected to the means (102) for storing the crude solid sorbent, means (112) for reducing particle size and transport means (118) for controlling the feed of solid sorbent conditioning in the fluidized bed combustor (12) according to a predetermined feed rate sorbent; and means (132) for detecting a concentration of sulfur in the fluidized bed combustor (12) operatively connected to the control means (122), the control means (122) being operative to control the feed of solid sorbent conditioning to fluidized bed combustor (12) in response to a condition detected sulfur concentration of fluidized bed combustor (12).
