A penile prosthesis (20) comprising: a cylinder (22) implantable in the corpora cavernosa; a reservoir (24); an attachable pump (26) between the cylinder (22) and a reservoir (24), and operable to move fluid from the reservoir (24) in order to inflate the cylinder (22); and a set of deflating (28) engageable between the pump (26) and the reservoir (24), comprising together deflation (28): a valve selectively restricting the movement of fluid from the cylinder (22) to the tank (24 ), a base (62) and activation surface (64) facing the base (62), including activating surface (62) an outer peripheral rim (70) surrounding a plate (72) which is movable to displace the valve to allow fluid to flow from the cylinder (22) to the reservoir (24); characterized in that the entire insert (72) is depressed relative to the outer peripheral rim (70), such that the outer peripheral rim defines the maximum surface activation and the set of flat (28) is independent of the vessel (24) and independent of the pump (26).
