Provided are a timing synchronization method and an air conditioning system to which the timing synchronization method is applied. More specifically, this timing synchronization method is applied to an air conditioning system comprising a gateway module (102), a router (103), and air conditioners (101-1 to 101-N). The air conditioners (101-1 to 101-N) establish communicative connection, via the gateway module (102) and the router (103), with a mobile communication terminal having an automatic clock updating function. The timing synchronization method includes a step in which if the air conditioners (101-1 to 101-N) and the mobile communication terminal are in a state of communicative connection, the air conditioners (101-1 to 101-N) obtain, via the gateway module (102), mobile communication terminal time-data which includes data segments of at least hour, minute and second, and using the obtained mobile communication terminal time-data, timing information in the air conditioners (101-1 to 101-N) is updated. According to this timing synchronization method and air conditioning system to which the timing synchronization method is applied, timing information of air conditioners is corrected using the precise clock information in a mobile communication terminal having an automatic clock updating function, and as a result thereof, the air conditioners can switch between daytime and nighttime operation modes with precision, record abnormal generation times, and set other times.
