The invention relates to a method for producing a trim part with a real carbon fiber appearance for vehicles, comprising a carbon fiber layer which is arranged on a visible side of the trim part and which can be perceived from the outside. The carbon fiber layer is made of a fiber structure made of prefabricated carbon fibers with intermediate spaces and undergoes, among others, the method step of wet impregnation with an aqueous polymer dispersion based on polyurethane, acrylate, or polyvinyl acetate or a mixture thereof such that the polymer dispersion at least partly penetrates the carbon fiber layer and the suitability of a paint to penetrate the intermediate spaces of the fiber structure of the carbon layer is increased.
