The present invention relates to a method for producing a lost casting core (70), characterized by the following features: a) providing a moulding tool (40) having a cavity (41), which is enclosed by at least two mould halves (40a, 40b) and is intended for forming a core blank (60); b) at least partially lining at least one mould half (40a, 40b) with at least one insert part (50) provided with openings; c) forming a core blank (60) from core material, while letting at least one insert part (50) into the surface (61) of the core blank (60); d) removing the core blank (60) with the at least one insert part (50) let into the surface (61) thereof from the moulding tool (40); e) removing the at least one insert part (50) from the surface (61) of the core blank (60) in such a way that a finished casting core (70) with a structured surface (71) results. The present invention also relates to such a casting core (70) and to a cooling channel piston (10) that can be produced by using such a casting core.
