A navigation route road section expansion method and device, the method comprising: when a current road section of a navigation route expands into a next road section, acquiring original road weight values of at least two alternative road sections having a communication relationship with the current road section; for each of the alternative road sections, determining a degree of matching of a road attribute of the current road section, and the road attribute of the alternative road section, and modifying the original road weight value of the alternative road section according to the determined degree of matching, wherein, the degree of matching reflects a degree of splicing smoothness between the current road section and the alternative road section; determining a cost of each of the alternative road sections according to length, the original road weight values and modified road weight values of each of the alternative road sections; and selecting an alternative road section from the alternative road sections as the next road section of the current road section of the navigation route according to the costs of the alternative road sections, thus improving navigation route accuracy.
