An athletic swing training device (20) for bettering swing form includes a controller housing (21) containing an integrated control circuit and RF receiver (22); a light source (30); a carrier (40) configured to dependently support a sports projectile (55, 56, 57); and an RF remote control (51) configured to transmit control signals through the RF receiver to the control circuit. At least the light source (30) is contained within a portion of the carrier (40) such that light emanating from the light source (30) is blocked from external view by a sports projectile (55, 56, 57) dependently supported by the carrier (40) but is visible in the absence of the sports projectile (55, 56, 57). The light source (30) may be one or more LEDs (35).
