The present invention relates to novel metagenome-derived Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenase (BVMO) extracted from foreshore soil, and more specifically, to novel BVMO having Baeyer-Villiger oxidizing activities, which is selected from a metagenome DNA library extracted from mudflat by means of a robot-based high-throughput screening (HTS) method. The present invention further relates to a gene encoding the BVMO, and a recombinant microorganism transformed by the gene. According to the present invention, the novel BVMO has capability of producing a lactone compound by carrying out a reaction with ketone compounds having various structures, thereby being able to be used in production or conversion of the useful lactone compounds such as the production of various high-priced intermediates for medical uses and the like.
