The present invention relates to smart glasses having a character recognition function for language learning and low vision assisting, and a method for recognizing a character by using the smart glasses. More specifically, the smart glasses having a character recognition function comprise: an external photographing means for obtaining image data by photographing an external image; a pupil tracing camera for generating pupil state data by tracing a pupil position and state of a user using the glasses; a control unit for appointing a particular region of image data photographed by the external photographing means based on the pupil state data, and generating character data by determining a character in an appointed particular region; a sound transferring means for receiving the character data transmitted from the control unit to be converted into sound data and presented to the user; and an operation sensor means for determining whether the external photographing means, pupil tracing camera, control unit, and sound transferring means are operated or not.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
