The present invention relates to a target signal classification method of an active sonar, which can classify target signals of the active sonar using standard deviation information on a movement direction and a speed of a target in a multiple state sonar system. The method comprises the steps of: measuring doppler shift frequencies of all the possible two returns in one contact to calculate a moving direction and a speed of a reflector, which is a target candidate; calculating a standard deviation with respect to the calculated moving direction and speed of the reflector; setting a score indicating target possibility, to each contact using the calculated standard deviation of the moving direction and the speed and the number of returns affiliated to each contact; and classifying target signals based on the total score set to each contact.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
