摘要

Presented in this paper is a new method for spatial localization in active sonar using large bandwidth-duration binary phase shift keying signals. The very good time and frequency resolution power and the large process gain of such signals allow the use of the phase of the cross-ambiguity function. When using a sensors array, the differential phase measured on two homolog peaks is related to the target azimuth. So a global localization and classification can be made. This new spatial localization method is proposed to improve the classical beamforming being used in passive sonars as well for multiple targets (far field) as for a single target exhibiting multiple highlight points (near field).
