The present invention relates to a high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter. More specifically, the present invention relates to a hybrid HVDC converter which reduces a limitation of a minimum firing angle, and maximizes a power transmission efficiency by reducing outputting ripple and reactive power occurring at the same time by connecting, to the HVDC converter, a modular multilevel converters for controlling voltage in series, managing an large output in the HVDC converter, and managing a small output and a voltage control in the modular multilevel converter.
