Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for concealing sound waves considering generalized time dependency. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the method for concealing sound waves, comprises steps of: on the basis of the correlation between a mathematical sound wave transmission model predetermined with respect to sound wave transmission, and a mathematical electromagnetic wave model predetermined with respect to electromagnetic waves, transforming the mathematical sound wave transmission model into a mathematical sound wave concealment model corresponding to the mathematical electromagnetic wave model and comprising a time variable on time dependency; deriving target characteristics of a meta-material by using the transformed mathematical sound wave concealment model; and cutting off sound waves from a region comprising a target object by disposing the meta-material having the derived target characteristics so as to surround the region.
