The present invention relates to a recombinant Escherichia coli capable of producing isoprene from D-galactose, a production method thereof, and a method for producing isoprene using the same. More specifically, provided is a recombinant Escherichia coli which secures a De Ley-Doudoroff (DD) pathway and a 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol-4-phosphate (MEP) pathway enabling the efficient production of isoprene, and also has capability of producing isoprene efficiently based on the pathway.
