The present invention relates to a recombinant Escherichia coli capable of producing 1,2,4-butanetriol from D-xylose, a production method thereof, and a method for producing 1,2,4-butanetriol using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a recombinant Escherichia coli which is obtained by breaking a gene involved in the metabolism of D-xylose and D-xylonate in a wild type Escherichia coli and then introducing a gene required on the spot. The present invention further relates to a production method thereof and a method for producing 1,2,4-butanetriol from D-xylose using the same. According to the present invention, the use of the recombinant Escherichia coli can lead to the production of 1,2,4-butanetriol in high yield from D-xylose.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
