Disclosed is a method whereby a robot may continuously recognizes emotions by analyzing facial expressions. The method comprises: a step of constructing a database wherein images for each emotional states are recorded; a step of calculating an independent variable through a principle component analysis, based on the distribution of the images recorded in the database; a step of performing learning based on a regression equation, using the calculated independent variable; and calculating a value representing an emotion by applying an input image to the linear regression equation. Through this method, a robot is able to continuously determine an emotional state of a person by analyzing his or her facial expressions; thereby a robot and the person being able to share emotions.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
