The present invention relates to a method for calculating a background concentration of a tiny amount atmospheric gas using a statistical technique. The method includes: a material preparation step of preparing time series data in which primitive data of a type amount atmospheric gas collected from an observation device are arranged at certain time intervals; an increase tendency separation step of separating a linear increase tendency of the tiny amount atmospheric gas from the time series data; a periodicity extraction step of extracting the periodicity of a preset period of the tiny amount atmospheric gas; and a background concentration calculation step of calculating a background concentration which expresses natural variability of the preset period of the tiny amount atmospheric gas.
