FACILE PREPARATION OF SERS-ACTIVE NANOSTRUCTURED AU SPHERES

The present invention relates to a nanostructured Au sphere having two different structures, one of which is raspberry-like and packed with nanoparticles and the other of which is rosette-like and packed with nanoplates, and to a preparation method thereof. According to the present invention, the Au sphere is submicron-sized and has a uniform shape, and the size distribution of the spheres was found to be very narrow. Also, such spheres can be uniformly deposited on glass slides or silicon wafers. Due to the nanostructured surface of Au spheres, the Au spheres in a low concentration of 10^(-7) M show high surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-activity with respect to methylene blue (MB) and crystal violet (CV). Nano-scale gaps and roughened surface structure on the surface of Au contribute to a high SERS-activity. In the future, the high light-scattering ability of the submicron-scale Au spheres may be beneficially used for various purposes.
