The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating glioblastoma multiforme or a composition for enhancing radiation sensitivity of glioblastoma multiforme, containing emodin as an active ingredient. The present invention confirmed whether emodin has the potential to target specific self-renewal pathways of glioma stem cells (GSCs) and the results showed that emodin significantly inhibits the stemness of GSCs and effectively blocks the self-renewal activity of GSCs by suppressing crucial stemness signaling pathways involving Notch-1, β-catenin, and STAT3.
