TECHNIQUE TO INCREASE CARBON CREDIT BY SIMULTANEOUS REGISTRATION IN UN-REDD/AR-CDM

UN-REDD/AR-CDM are currently being emerged as important systems for reducing carbon dioxide emissions due to deforestation in the international society. Discussions on the registration of North Korea as a project target area of the UN-REDD/AR-CDM are still continuing in terms of securing the certified emission reduction of South Korea as well as preventing the deforestation of North Korea. Mt. Baekdu has a devastated forest area and a huge forest area to be registered in the UN-REDD and the AR-CDM. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to seek the possibility of the registration in the UN-REDD and the AR-CDM based on the changing trend of the carbon stock of each sub-watershed by breaking away from an existing individual registration method of the REDD and the AR-CDM. The result of this study shows that the carbon stock is 21.9% more than the AR-CDM alone and 53.2% more than the REDD alone when the AR-CDM/REDD are applied to each sub-watershed at the same time. The result of this study can be used as important reference data in the process of reviewing registration by selecting the UN-REDD or the AR-CDM based on the change characteristics of the carbon stock of each sub-watershed.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
