Carbon Capture Coalition asks Congress to increase carbon credit values, other changes to reconciliation bill

A coalition of businesses using carbon capture technologies is urging Congress to make key changes to the budget reconciliation bill that it says are necessary to scale up carbon capture technologies and hit 2050 net-zero emissions goals. The Carbon Capture Coalition's requested changes focus on Section 45Q of the federal tax code, the tax credit program that has spurred the use of carbon capture technologies since it was expanded in 2018. Projects that qualify for tax credits under 45Q include those that capture and sequester carbon emitted from an industrial facility or directly from the atmosphere.
