Increased monomer conversion in emulsion polymerization

A method of increasing monomer conversion in redox-initiated emulsion polymerization has been found. The method comprises adding to the polymerization medium a composition comprising an effective amount of a substituted phenol. In this way, a high monomer conversion is achieved, the product has a low gel content and little or no cross-linking.
