The composite material is Li [M 1 - x Li x ] O 2 or yLi 2 MnO 3 and (1-y) LiMO 2 ( M = Ni, Co, Mn, 0 x 0.5, 0 y 1), and LiMn 1.5 and a Ti 0.5 O 4, and LiMn 1.5 Ni 0.5 O 4, at least one of. Also provided is a Li-ion electrochemical cell comprising a cathode comprising the composite material. The Li-ion electrochemical cell controls irreversible capacity loss and maintains good cycle stability.
