FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composition, based on zirconium and at least one oxide of rare-earth element, different from cerium, for processing exhaust gases from internal combustion engines with at least 50% weight part of zirconium oxide. In said composition after calcination at temperature 900°C for 4 hours observed are two groups of pores, respective diameters of which are grouped for first group at value from 20 nm to 40 nm and for second group at value from 80 nm to 200 nm, and after calcinations at 1100°C for 4 hours it has specific surface at least 25 m/g. Invention to equal degree relates to versions of method for obtaining said composition, catalytic system, containing said composition, and method for processing exhaust gases from internal combustion engines with application of said catalytic system.EFFECT: claimed composition makes it possible to achieve balance between large surface area, provided with small pores, and better gas diffusion, provided by large pores, which makes it possible to apply them in catalysis.19 cl, 1 dwg, 6 tbl, 7 ex
