A method for adaptive control of a high-resolution headlight system as well as a device for carrying out the process. The method comprises the steps of:– Dividing an area to be illuminated in a plurality of sectors;– Illuminating the area with at least a high-resolution headlight;– Sensing intensities of light of the individual sectors of the illuminated area with at least one light sensor, wherein the of the individual sectors as well as the reflected light generated in the individual sectors is detected; and– Reduction of the illumination of the sectors, the detected light having an intensity, which exceeds an upper threshold value, by appropriate control of pixels of the high-resolution headlight to the respective intensity detected light of these sectors, a predetermined first setpoint is reached.
