Exchangeable fly-by-wire control column and steering wheel assemblies with centrally interchangeable disconnect and autopilot assemblies

A control horn (102) is provided for controlling the attitude of an aircraft. The control horn (102) includes a chassis (112), a pitch hub (124), a roll hub (154), a support pillar (108), a steering wheel (106) and a linkage assembly. The nick hub (124) is rotatably mounted on the chassis (112). The rolling hub (154) is rotatably mounted on the chassis (112) for movement generally parallel to the nick hub (124). The support post (108) is mounted on the nick hub (124) for rotational movement with the nick hub (124) relative to the chassis (112). The steering wheel (106) is pivotally mounted to the support column (108) for rotation about a steering wheel pivot axis (110) generally perpendicular to the pitch and roll hub. The linkage assembly couples the steering wheel (106) to the rolling hub (154) and is configured to rotate the rolling hub (154) about the roll axis (155) as the steering wheel (106) is rotated about the steering wheel pivot axis (110). A system is also provided which includes interconnected control horns.
