The present invention relates to a method for predicting the susceptibility, for a patient at risk, of developing or redeveloping a Clostridium difficile infection, comprising the immunoassay determination, in a stool sample from said patient, of the anti-IgA antibody level. Clostridium difficile toxin B, and to compare this level with a previously determined S reference value with two populations of patients exposed to the bacterium, one having not developed or redeveloped such an infection and the other having developed or redeveloped such an infection, - a rate lower than said reference value S signifying that the patient is a patient at increased risk of developing or redeveloping a Clostridium difficile infection, and - a rate greater than said reference value S meaning that the patient is not a patient at increased risk of developing or redeveloping Clostridium difficile infection.
