An identification device 40 (on eg. a necklace 41) identifies vibrations 44 associated with the speech of a participant 30 and transmits 46 an indication 50 (eg. a chirp) of the speakers preconfigured identity to a display 70 for a listener at eg. a conference telephone 20 (which may be located across a POTS, VOIP or radio network 10). The display 70 may be visual (eg. a name 71), audible (eg. a voiceover naming the speaker) or tactile (eg. Braille or different vibratory signals), while the chirp transmission may be audible 21 or wireless (eg. Bluetooth, 60 fig. 4) .
