PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem of a method for generating a gate pattern in a triangular wave comparison PWM generation device that since only one gate transition can be achieved by carrier slope (rising or falling of a triangular wave), it is required to increase the carrier frequency according to the minimum pulse width, but it is also required to increase the speed of a control system linked with the carrier for increasing the speed of the carrier.SOLUTION: A triangular wave comparison PWM generation device compares a triangular wave voltage, as a carrier, with two voltage references by means of a comparator, and uses a waveform obtained by subjecting the comparison result of the comparator for respective voltage references to XOR as a gate pattern. The gate pattern is supplied to the gate terminal of a semiconductor element constituting a power converter. The carrier frequency (triangular wave frequency) can be used at low frequency, by performing the switching control of the semiconductor element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
