PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artery blood vessel detection device capable of surely extracting an artery in a short axis cross section image.;SOLUTION: An artery blood vessel detection device comprises: a compression release state determination control part 102 for determining a compression state and a release state of a biological tissue using a movement vector which indicates movement of a pixel between frames, from a moving image of a short axis cross section image; an artery blood vessel determination control part 104 for determining that the blood vessel is an artery blood vessel 20, based on a fact that, an area of a lumen N of a tubular organ which exists in the short axis cross section image in the compression state satisfies a preset artery blood vessel lumen determination condition; and an artery blood vessel tracking control part 110 for creating a template of whole artery blood vessel based on a position of the lumen of the determined artery blood vessel 20, then tracking movement of the lumen of the artery blood vessel in a step in which the short axis cross section image shifts to a release state from the compression state, using the template, then identifying the artery blood vessel in the short axis cross section image in the release state.
