PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the model prediction control (MPC) of a system that finds an entry of an approximate coefficient matrix at only a location that is identified as being significant in the map of locations.SOLUTION: The map of locations identifies whether each location of an entry in an approximate coefficient matrix is significant or not significant. The entry is found by using one of the approximate coefficient matrix and an accurate coefficient matrix or a combination of those. Next, the present method finds a preconditioner by using the approximate coefficient matrix, and resolve, by using an iteration method having this preconditioner, the matrix equation of MPC having a coefficient matrix defined by the accurate coefficient matrix at the present time step of control, thereby finding a solution vector.
