PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling drum for a both drum type continuous casting device capable of regulating a whole shape of an irregular part formed on a peripheral face of the cooling drum, for achieving uniform restraint and uniform slow cooling of a coagulation shell and thereby suppressing crack, and suppressing occurrence of scabby defects.SOLUTION: There is provided a cooling drum 11 for a both drum type continuous casting device for supplying a molten metal into a molten metal storage part which is formed by a pair of cooling drums 11 which rotate, and a pair of side dams, for forming and growing a coagulation shell on a peripheral face of the cooling drum for producing a thin cast piece. The peripheral face on which the coagulation shell is formed, comprises irregular parts 20 which extend and retreat in a radial direction, which have an arithmetic average roughness Ra which is equal to or more than 10 μm and equal to or less than 100 μm, and a sharp degree Lu of each irregular part 20 is 0.2 or more and 1.0 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
