PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cation exchange membrane used for a membrane Bunsen reactor in a thermochemical hydrogen manufacturing iodine-sulfur (IS) process, excellent in SO₂ permeation inhibition performance and H⁺ transference number.;SOLUTION: An excellent cation exchange membrane is effectively manufactured by combining a specific multifunctional compound with a compound for forming a specific styrene derivative or a specific sulfonic acid group and radiation graft polymerizing them to a polymer membrane substrate. There is provided a membrane Bunsen reactor of a thermochemical hydrogen manufacturing iodine-sulfur (IS) process having anode and cathode, an anode chamber contacting a reaction liquid containing iodine and sulfur dioxide with the anode and accommodating them, a cathode chamber contacting the reaction liquid containing iodine and sulfur dioxide and the cathode and accommodating them and a cation exchange membrane separating the anode chamber and the cathode chamber, which uses the cation exchange membrane.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
