PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable prediction of a range in which a finger, a pen or the like having touched onto a touch panel leaves the touch panel and then will touch the touch panel again.;SOLUTION: A contact area prediction apparatus used for a touch panel provided with a transparent electrode comprises: coordinate estimation means for estimating two-dimensional coordinate values on the touch panel when the tip of a counter electrode for operating the touch panel is projected onto the touch panel, with the lapse of time, many times; distance estimation means for estimating values of distance from the touch panel, of the tip of the counter electrode, with the lapse of time, many times; and prediction means for predicting an area including a point at which the tip comes in contact with the touch panel again on the basis of the plurality of two-dimensional coordinate values and the plurality of values of distance, which have been estimated, after the tip contacts the touch panel.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
