PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacteriophage showing bacteriolytic activity to Salmonella, and a bacteriophage composition.SOLUTION: A bacteriophage is characterized in that: (1-a) The bacteriophage is derived from poultry; (1-b) The bacteriophage belongs to Myoviridae; (1-c) The bacteriophage has bacteriolytic activity to at least S. Entetitidis, S. Typhimurium, S. Gallinarum, S. Pullorum, S. Infentis and S. Thompson; (1-d) When a solution including the bacteriophage incubated at 95°C for 5 min in the presence of SDS is subjected to electrophoresis with a gel having cut-off molecular weight of 10,000 to 150,000, the band of protein are detected at 60.1±1.0 kDa, 54.7±1.0 kDa, 42.4±1.0 kDa, 15.8±1.0 kDa and 14.8±1.0 kDa; and (1-e) The size of genome DNA is 84.5±1.0 kbp. A composition contains the bacteriophage.
