PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clean and energy-saving synthesis method of dimethylfuran and/or methylfuran useful as biofuels and various intermediate ingredients.SOLUTION: In the provided manufacturing method of 2,5-dimethylfuran and/or 2-methylfuran, not only is hydroxymethylfurfural and/or furfural used as a starting raw ingredient while supercritical carbon dioxide is being used as a reaction solvent in the presence of solid catalysts but a volume of water soluble with a mixed solution of the starting raw ingredient and supercritical carbon dioxide is also added to the reaction system. The provided synthesis method of 2,5-dimethylfuran and/or 2-methylfuran has the following characteristics: carbon-supported Pd, Pt, and Rh are used as the solid catalysts; the pressure of the supercritical carbon dioxide is set at the critical pressure or within a range of 7.3-16 MPa; the pressure of hydrogen is set within a range of 0.2-2 MPa; the reaction temperature is set within a range of 50 to 100°C.
