PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool attachment method which attaches and detaches a tool pot to/from a hollow shaft in a chain-type tool magazine, and attaches and detaches a tool to/from the tool pot, and the chain-type tool magazine.SOLUTION: In a tool attachment method for a tool attachment part of a machine tool, a tool pot 15 which is attachable and detachable to/from a hollo part 11 of a hollow shaft 9 which pivotally connects an inner ring plate 5 and outer ring plate 7 of an endless chain 3 in an axial direction is released from the hollow part 11 of the hollow shaft 9, after that a tool 13 which is detachably arranged at the tool pot 15 is released from the tool pot 15, and an attachment part 47 of the released tool 13 is attached to the tool attachment part SP which is arranged at the machine tool.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
