The lathe has a four-track machine bed provided with a machine bed (10) and guide tracks (12). A tool magazine has a stationary magazine (28) arranged adjacent to a headstock (14) on a side opposite to a tailstock (16). The tool magazine has a movable changer (30) movable between the stationary magazine and a tool carriage (18) on same tracks (24, 26) on which the tool carriage is movable. The movable changer has a tool replacement device for insertion and removal of tools and swingable around a vertical axis.
