PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod body for a fishing rod, simply producible by a worker even with a low level of skill, and a fishing rod using the same.SOLUTION: A rod body for a fishing rod includes a body layer which is formed in a cylindrical shape from prepregs 71a, 71b, and 71c, and which includes a suddenly-enlarged diameter part whose inclination is sharper than those of front and back areas and which is enlarged in both inner and outer diameters toward the back side. A prescribed-length area including at least the sudden-enlarged diameter part in the entire length of the body layer has a layer having a cylindrical shape with one round by arranging and winding, while forming an overlapped portion, a plurality of sheets of the prepregs 71a, 71b, and 71c having a length corresponding to the prescribed-length area, in the circumferential direction, so as to form each division area formed by dividing one round into a plurality of areas by using each sheet of the prepregs 71a, 71b, and 71c.
