PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide prepreg achieving a fishing rod tip having excellent molding operability, and hardly breaking during large deformation without limiting composing elements and a method for molding by ensuring adhesiveness of the interface between carbon fibers and a matrix resin, ensuring sufficient elongation of the matrix resin, improving the handleability of thin-gage prepreg, and ensuring the grade of a molded product.;SOLUTION: The prepreg includes the carbon fibers satisfying conditions [I] to [IV]; and the matrix resin which is an epoxy resin composition containing 30-60 pts.wt. of the following ingredient [A] in 100 pts.wt. of an epoxy resin; 40-70 pts.wt. of the ingredient [B] in 100 pts.wt. of the epoxy resin; and 1-10 pts.wt. of the ingredient [C] based on 100 pts.wt. of the epoxy resin: [I] 0.20 or less of surface oxygen concentration O/C of the carbon fibers according to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; [II] 0.5% or more of surface hydroxy group concentration C-OH/C according to chemically modified X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; [III] 2.0% or less of surface carboxy group concentration COOH/C according to the chemically modified X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; and [IV] a compound having a plurality of epoxy groups is sized.
