I was fishing with Darwin Barra Base's chief guide, Mark Parkinson - an avid user of Daiwa fishing gear, when he asked me to try some of his gear. I'm glad he did because after four days of fishing in the Mary River Overflow I was getting great results. I used a Daiwa Zillion model 100SHLA baitcasting reel for about three days before switching over to a Daiwa Saltist Hard Rock Fish baitcasting reel on the last day. Beats me where they get these fancy names, but the Zillion is a beauty. The reels were loaded with 50lb Fins braid line to take advantage of the big barra that dwell in the fantastic fishing world of the Mary River Overflow. Heavy line also helps to overcome the inexperience of many clients.
