PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and simply produce a projection plate cylinder having many projections on the surface.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a projection plate cylinder comprising: a step of preparing a blank plate cylinder 35A having a copper layer 2 on the surface; a step of applying a photosensitive material 3 to the whole area of the copper layer 2 in the surface of the blank plate cylinder 35A; and a step of exposing and developing the photosensitive material 3 and forming a resist 4 to a part corresponding to a projection 35a. The copper layer 2 in the surface of the blank plate cylinder 35A is subjected to etching to form a projection 35a on the copper layer 2, and thereafter, the resist 4 is removed from the surface of the projection 35a. The projection 35a is again subjected to second etching to curve the vertical cross-sectional shape of the tip part 35b in the projection 35a. After that, chromium plating is applied to the whole area of the copper layer to form a chromium plating layer 5.
