Method for repeated impulse partial discharge test of motor winding and apparatus therefor

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of testing of repeated impulse partial discharge on electric motor winding capable of determining that a partial discharge is generated across windings or turns.SOLUTION: Repeated impulse partial discharge characteristics of a winding on an electric motor 10 is tested by using an impulse power source 15 to output a repeated impulse voltage across a first output terminal 16 and a second output terminal 17. When testing a partial discharge across the windings with the first output terminal 16 connected to a first winding 12 and the second output terminal 17 connected to a winding 13 and a winding 14, the output voltage from the impulse power source 15 is directly applied across the first winding 12, the winding 13 and the winding 14. When testing a partial discharge across the turns, the output voltage from the impulse power source 15 is applied across the first winding 12, winding 13, and winding 14 with an inter-terminal diode 21 connected across the first and second output terminals 16 and 17.
