PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc resistant insulator which can reduce the wear amount and suppress internal deterioration while keeping insulation performance, a method of producing an arc resistant insulator and a gas blast circuit breaker.SOLUTION: An arc resistant insulator 10 is arranged in the vicinity of an arc generated between electrodes. The arc resistant insulator 10 comprises a matrix resin 20 composed of a fluorine-based resin, a whisker 30 which is contained in the matrix resin 20 in a ratio of 6-20 pts. mass to 100 pts. mass of the fluorine-based resin constituting the matrix resin 20 and is composed of zinc oxide, and a particle 40 which is contained in the matrix resin 20 and is composed of boron nitride.
