A novel means is disclosed that can predict whether precancerous lesions of cancers such as cervical cancer will worsen in the future. The method for predicting the progression of a precancerous lesion of the present invention comprises examining the expression of aPKCλ / ι protein in a sample isolated from a subject. Predicted that the precancerous lesion is likely to be worse or less likely to be improved if the expression level of aPKCλ / ιprotein is high and / or if the aPKCλ / ιprotein is localized in the nucleus .
